a new path

as we go our separate ways today
i'm thankful for this road we've shared
this stretch of the journey
has been filled with rest and care
for as i walked, you walked too
as we told our stories
we shared our souls - unexpectedly, thankfully
though our paths will be apart
i walk away a better man
so it is not goodbye i leave you with
but a heart full of gratitude
i pray as we each start down this path
a new strength and wholeness may be found
knowing that, for a little while,
we walked along together
